REVIEW: Dabur Baby Massage Oil with Olive & Almond

This is the second baby oil from Dabur and their first one was the Lal Tel which is based on an ayurvedic composition and it's just awesome. I already have review out here. This is also made of natural oils but I doubt if it is an ayurvedic composition too.

Dabur baby massage oil is paraffin free, made of natural oils, no artificial colors, and dermatologically tested for skin safety. It provides extra skin nourishment as per study by research agency. Olive oil provides nourishment to the baby's skin and almond oil gently moisturizes delicate skin making it soft & supple. Regular massaging helps strengthen bones and muscles.

Ingredients:

Natural oils containing sunflower, sesame, olive, almond and jojoba. Fragrance, tocopherol acetate and TBHQ.

To be stored away from sunlight.

Review:

The packaging itself is so cute that you will want to buy it. It has a cute little brown baby elephant which is smiling on its cover. It kinda sends a subliminal message that after using it our baby will also turn chubby just like that baby elephant. On the other side of the box, the baby elephant is weight lifting so as to suggest that our baby will become stronger too. For me these thoughts and hopes were enough to get the oil.

The bottle comes with a convenient flip cap which is easy to pour out the oil. The bottle itself is transparent and lets you see how much is there. The oil is slightly yellow (perhaps from the sunflower and sesame oils). It has a sweet perfume to it and to be honest that is why I still like it. But I don't think fragrance is good for babies. It should have been left with its natural fragrance. The oil itself is quite light weight and is easy to spread. It doesn't absorb immediately into the skin, so it lubricates the baby's skin well during massage.

Coming to its benefits, it's a very gentle oil and there were no side effects. It's great for massage. It's non sticky. And there are no nasty chemicals. As far as benefits for a baby are concerned, it is not very moisturizing. After a bath, I still have to apply cream on my baby's dry skin. Oil massages are also believed to help baby gain weight as some of the oil is absorbed by the skin, but I didn't observe even the tiniest bit of weight gain that I could attribute to this oil. For months old babies this oil might not be of any good as their requirements are more in terms of skin moisturizing and weight gain. I would suggest any oil from the kitchen would be far better. For toddlers it is good as a moisturizer ( post bath). Like all baby products, this one is expensive for what it is. But, yeah. I have used other brands of natural and not-so natural baby oils out in the market, and this one is definitely better.
